Beginner Sewing Lessons Just for Kids, Just in Time for Summer!

Summer vacation is quickly approaching and we all know how important it is to keep the kids busy. You’ve heard the saying ‘busy hands, happy heart’ - Why not offer a new skill they can no longer learn at school?

Sewing lessons is a great way to fill some of their time. Whether it is a private lesson, group lesson or a one-time project. Sewing is a live-long skill no family should be without.

Current plans are for classes to run on the days/times listed below from August 17th to 18th. However, we may offer additional classes based on demand. Please contact us for more information.

Group 1 – Ages 8-12  (Classes will be limited to 6 students to ensure individual attention)

Class Details:

Lessons will consist of both hand and machine sewing

Day 1 - Learn basic stitches in hand sewing (basting, back stitch, button stitch), cut out a pillow or book bag and decorate. Then, break out the sewing machines – learn to thread and operate by sewing your pillow or book bag together, stuff and sew together.

Day 2 - Learn to read a pattern, cut out flannel pajama bottoms and sew. Still have time left? Decorate a t-shirt to go with your pajama bottoms.

Cost of class:

1 day $40, 2 days $75 Material fee $10/per day

Duration of classes:

4 hours - Snacks will be provided

Date / Time:

Mon and Wed mornings 8:30 – 12:30pm

Group 2 – Ages 12-15 (Classes will be limited to 6 students to ensure individual attention)

Class Details:

Lessons will consist of both hand and machine sewing

Day 1: Learn basic hand sewing (basting, back stitch, button stitch) apply your newly learned stitches by decorating and individualizing a book bag. Then, break out the machines. Learn to thread and operate, then, sew together the book bag.

Day 2: Bedazzle your jeans – bring in a pair of jeans you would like to bedazzle or just jazz-up with a beaded hem or trim and/or patches

Cost of classes:

1 day $40, 2 days $75; Material fee $10/per day

Duration:

4 hours - Snacks will be provided

Date / Time:

Mon and Wed afternoons 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Note: Adjustments may be made to each day’s project(s), depending on the level of class students
